MS Stand-Up Donates $25,000 to Fight Multiple Sclerosis
New York, NY. - Mind Brain Philanthropic Foundation d/b/a MS Stand-Up, a non-profit foundation, donated twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) on behalf of Dr. Timothy Vartanian to Weill Cornell Medicine.
Drs. Susan Gauthier and Vartanian accepted the check on behalf of Weill-Cornell Medicine. Dr. Vartanian is the Director of the Judith Jaffe MS Center at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Gauthier is a clinician and researcher at Weill Cornell Medicine. MS Stand-Up president and founder Regina Schroeder hopes to raise a total of $3,000,000 to support the ongoing research led by Dr. Vartanian.
Ms. Schroeder, who is a patient of Dr. Vartanian, has been involved with fundraising for multiple sclerosis for over a decade. Ms. Schroeder decided to start her own foundation, Mind Brain Philanthropic Foundation d/b/a MS Stand-Up, as a platform for her efforts to raise money to combat this debilitative disease for which, at present, there is no cure and limited therapies.
“When I met the dedicated researchers and saw the ground-breaking research being done at Dr. Vartanian's lab at Weill Cornell Medicine, I had to get involved,” said Ms. Schroeder.
Many of the MS research efforts at Weill Cornell Medicine are being done in collaboration with The Rockefeller University and its talented scientists. Some of the investigations include understanding the origins of MS, the path of the disease, and exploring the repurposing of existing compounds used to fight other illnesses for use as MS treatments, including remyelination.
